Rainy Days

This week has been filled with rain and I dreaded it coming because we had the most beautiful weekend! Tomorrow is hopefully the last day of rain this week and we will be happy to see the sun again. Emerie has just been hanging out with her fur friends waiting for things to dry up so she can get back to exploring outside.

This weekend was fairly relaxing... my sister and her husband visited on Saturday so we got to see her sweet little 5 week old bundle of joy. She's adorable. She's got hair that sticks straight up like a mohawk and she is only 7 pounds now. I still can't believe she hasn't even reached Emerie's birth weight and she's over a month old! She's too precious though. My baby fever just keeps climbing. We are anxious to meet this sweet little guy (who has a name now!) in just 9 short weeks. My friend had her baby last week and and I went to the hospital to see her and her sweet little girl. Lots of little lives to celebrate. Speaking of celebrating, this month is going to be a busy one. We've got lots of events coming up, Emerie's dedication at church, Mother's Day, family/maternity pictures, Emerie's 2nd birthday party, a Memorial Day cookout, and the first weekend in June will probably be our baby shower. It's a lot to think about and plan for, but for now.... I've got meatballs in the crockpot and plan to curl up with a book on the couch for the remainder of the night. :)

5 on Friday: 30 Week Bumpdate Edition

Happy Friday friends! Linking up with Darci and friends for 5 on Friday! I'm going to make this one the mini bumpdate since I didn't have time to write one this week. Enjoy! :)

{ONE} 30 weeks!? I can't believe we are already at 30 weeks. Our sweet baby boy's arrival is so close yet still seems so far away! I feel like he's huge already. He is constantly poking out body parts and I can feel his body when I push on my stomach. So weird and so wonderful. :) My favorite part of pregnancy is feeling those kicks, pokes, hiccups, and rolls. He definitely doesn't disappoint! :)
(dress is from Target and it is so comfortable, I love it!)
{TWO} Sweets, sweets, sweets. All I want is chocolate, donuts (yum, chocolate donuts sound good!), cookies, cakes, and candy. I try not to give in to that all day long but I pretty much have something sugary every single day. I also crave fruit like strawberries, watermelon, and grapes. I ate an entire watermelon by myself last week.
{THREE} Body changes. I don't know if I've gained any weight since my last check up but I go again on Tuesday so we'll see. My belly is starting to feel heavier. It throws me off balance a little at this point... I fell getting on the bus for our Kindergarten field trip on Wednesday. I have a massive bruise on my leg but thankfully I didn't hit the belly. I've fallen at least once with each pregnancy so I wasn't as freaked out this time. Thankfully he's well protected in there!
{FOUR} Contractions. Oh the contractions. Last Sunday night I was having contractions that were starting to hurt a little. I didn't feel alarmed (because I felt sure it wasn't a labor contraction) but the Braxton Hicks contractions I have with him are much stronger at this point than they were with Emerie. I had tons of BH contractions with her (from 17 weeks on) but his feel stronger and occasionally uncomfortable.
{FIVE} Big sister. Emerie loves hugging and kissing my belly. She also likes to "bump bellies" with me (seriously adorable). She is going to be a great big sister. While we can't wait to spoil and kiss on this sweet little boy, we are also soaking up this time with her as an only child. She is such a sweet little girl and we are so thankful that God blessed us with her. We are looking forward to having her dedicated at church on Mother's Day.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Easter Recap :)

We had a wonderful Easter! We got up on Easter morning and dressed Emerie in her Easter dress for church. She looked beyond adorable.
Then she went into the living room to find her Easter basket. She was really excited about all of the goodies in her basket (the maracas were especially a hit!). She played with her toys for a little while and ate a quick breakfast before we headed to church.
We didn't have enough time for a nap after the service so we came home and I made hashbrown casserole for our family dinner and we headed to my grandma's house. Emerie (of course) fell asleep the last 5 minutes of the ride there. Luckily she was still in a good mood when we arrived at my grandma's and we enjoyed spending time with everyone. She hunted Easter eggs and played outside for awhile. We went to hubs' grandma's after that and Emerie got more Easter goodies!
She was beyond exhausted when we finally got home but she didn't go to bed until her normal bedtime and she laid in her crib talking away for 45 minutes after that! Little did we know that we had a rough night ahead. She was up from 10:30-midnight just talking up a storm in our bed before I finally put her back in her crib. Of course she would be up the night before we go back to work! Stinker. I told hubs that as much as I wanted to go to sleep, I loved laying with her and listening to her talk about everything under the sun. Special moments that you can't get back! Hope you all had a wonderful Resurrection Sunday. I definitely enjoyed reflecting on the beautiful gift of salvation made possible through Jesus and counted my blessings with each moment!

Easter Basket Blog Hop!

Linking up with Darci for the Easter Basket blog hop!

Emerie's Easter basket was pretty easy to fill this year. I knew I wasn't going to put chocolate in there because she took one bite of a Hershey Kiss at the Easter egg hunt and spit it right back out. So I filled the basket with some fun toys that she could play with inside and outside. The basket includes a book, a foam floor puzzle, a tambourine and two maracas (complete with some of her favorite Disney characters), a bubble wand and some squishy water balls for the pool/tub/water table, play dough, a stuffed bunny rabbit, and a wind up chick that hops (she loves those things!). I may add some sunglasses because she's taken an interest in mine recently and some kind of sweet treat. :)

I should mention that I got almost all of these things at the Dollar Tree so her entire basket cost me less than $15! :)
Next year I will have two baskets to fill! I can't wait!
Happy Easter friends!

5 on Friday!

Happy Good Friday! It's so nice to be able to take my time and write this post from home on a Friday morning. I was off from work yesterday and today for spring break (the rest of the week was used as make-up snow days). Linking up with Darci and friends for another 5 on Friday!
 photo db7528c5-a5c8-4eb0-9519-22997b018248_zps7d56832d.jpg
{ONE} I can't believe how tiny Emerie was last Easter. She wasn't even one! She seems like such a big girl now. Time goes too quickly! I can't wait to see her in her new Easter dress on Sunday!
{TWO} We started our spring break off at the pediatricians office yesterday. After a very rough night on Wednesday we wanted to make sure Emerie didn't have an ear infection. Thankfully it was the quickest appointment we've ever had and it turned out to be a relapse of her last cold. The doctor said to call back if she got worse and she would treat her for a sinus infection but she slept through the night last night and is still asleep at 8 a.m. this morning! :) I enjoyed the full night's sleep and am hoping she's much better this morning. :)
(Resting on Mommy yesterday after a short nap.)
{THREE} Spring is here but I'm counting down until summer. We only have 35 days of school left until we are off for summer break. This pregnant momma will be very happy to complete the last three weeks of this pregnancy from the comforts of home! :)
{FOUR} I can't believe my baby turns 2 next month! I haven't even started to plan her party. We are debating on whether or not we want to have a bigger party and invite friends or have a smaller party with just family. We are thinking about doing a Mickey Mouse theme because she has loved Mickey for so long now!
{FIVE} Last week was a very rough week... I didn't blog about it but our dishwasher quit working and we had to buy a new one (which we didn't want to do because we hope to be moving soon!). We got one from Craigslist first to try and save money but it leaked so we ended up spending more and getting a new one at Lowes. Then our chocolate lab did something to his paw and had to go to the vet. It ended up being a very expensive bill as well because of sedation and x-rays but we were relieved to find that it was just a sprain and he is back to normal now! Emerie helped to install the new dishwasher and made sure that Mason was okay. :) Such a good little helper. I'm happy to say that this week was much better than last week! :)
Hope you have a wonderful Good Friday and a Happy Easter!

My heart is so full!

We had such an amazing weekend. We didn't do anything out of the ordinary or go anywhere, it was just an awesome weekend spent with my little family. Friday evening was really warm so we ran around the front yard and Emerie played on her swingset in the back yard. She's already outgrowing it!
On Saturday we went to an Easter egg hunt at our church and Emerie loved it. She kept asking for " 'nother one egg" while she was looking and it was adorable.
She took a two hour nap when she got home and we went to lunch with hubs' grandparents when she woke up. Then we spent the afternoon and all day Sunday just playing inside and outside and having fun together. It was filled with kisses, hugs, I love yous, giggles and smiles. My heart feels so full it could burst.

For some reason this weekend just overwhelmed me with love for this sweet little girl. I just kept staring at her all weekend, amazed at the things she says and does and in disbelief that God gave us this little miracle. She's so beautiful. Her hair is getting really curly and I absolutely love it. So thankful for her beautiful face and sweet little life.
Last week was a tough week at work and I was feeling pretty burnt out from it all. Two days off didn't seem like enough to help me regroup but these two days were exactly what I needed. My heart is full and I am ready to face three days of work this week... and looking forward to 4 days off after that! :)

28 Week Bumpdate

How far along: 28 weeks... Helloooo 3rd trimester!
Weight Gain: Probably close to 20 by now, I go to see the midwife on Monday and will find out for sure.
Clothes: Mix of maternity and regular clothes. Using the belly band with non-maternity pants, some regular shirts can still be stretched over my belly.
Skin: Skin is doing okay, no stretch marks yet! :)
Sleep:  Sleep is okay. Not great right now because I caught Emerie's cold and can't breathe through my nose!
Gender: Sweet and handsome baby boy!
Movement:  He moves a lot and I love feeling those kicks and rolls. Hubs can sit across the room and see my belly moving so he's definitely filling out in there. I'm also feeling lots of body parts, elbows, knees, feet. He also gets the occasional round of hiccups and I can tell he's head down! :)
Cravings: Starburst Jelly Beans for a little while, BBQ, ice cream, and after eating a bunch of watermelon at work on Thursday I told hubs that will be my next grocery store purchase, among other fruits!
Aversions: nothing, thankfully!
What I miss: Deli meat and sub sandwiches. Regular coffee (I've been drinking decaf every day now that my aversion to coffee is gone).
Best moments and looking forward to: Reaching the third trimester and starting to see the midwives every two weeks now to keep an eye on this little man! It makes it seem like his birthday is so close when you have to go in so often, plus I love hearing his heartbeat! I'm also looking forward to warm spring weather and wearing my maternity dresses!
Prayer for the baby: Lord, I thank you for the wonderful pregnancy that I've had so far. I praise you for the constant reassurance you have given me through his kicks and rolls. I pray that you continue to develop his body in your perfect way and help us to prepare our hearts and home for his arrival. Help us to teach him the love of Jesus and to be godly examples for our children. In Jesus' name, Amen.
"Follow God's example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God."  Ephesians 5: 1-2

22 Months Old!

Emerie turned 22 months old on March 23. I am little late in posting this but better late than never. :) She is such a sweet girl. I am so thankful for her sweet little life. I am trying to avoid the fact that she turns two in less than 2 months!
She loves to be outside. She's into everything... rocks, sticks, leaves, you name it, she will pick it up. We were at the park a few weeks ago and she picked up a piece of old dog poop and yelled "Ewwww momma, dog poop, ewwww!!" Needless to say I was disgusted and washed her hands at the park and then stopped at a Kroger to wash them again. :) How will I survive a boy?!
She is a good eater most of the time but will only eat certain things: avocado, cottage cheese, cheese sticks, chicken, fruit and veggie pouches, mac and cheese, pancakes, yogurt, and applesauce. She basically eats a combination of those things every single day. It's a little frustrating when I make things like lasagna (which she used to eat) and she spits it out at us or refuses to even taste it! But none the less, she's eating, growing and healthy. I'm brushing it off as a toddler phase.
She has 12 teeth that are fully in and three or four more that are almost in right now. She loves to sit and read with the dogs and climb all over them. Thankfully they are wonderful with her and let her. She also loves to push her Minnie cart (which she calls a carpet) around the house with her Mickey and baby dolls in it. She is speaking in phrases and sentences now. She has a fascination with toes and feet, whenever she sees feet she always says "pee-yew stinky toes!" and it's adorable. She repeats everything that we say, and I mean everything! If we tell her she can't have something she always says "it's daddy's". I guess she thinks daddy doesn't share! If we tell her something's dirty she always says, "ew, wash it!". She stills asks people to "rock a baby doll" when she wants to be rocked and read to. She loves books and could sit and be read to for hours on end. Her favorites the last few months have been Biscuit books, Dewey the Library Cat, and Rocket's Mighty Words.
She gave up her pacis last Friday (hallelujah!) without a fuss. She has a cold so my dad didn't give them to her during her nap Friday because she couldn't breathe through her nose good and she never really asked for them. So we didn't offer them that night and she went to sleep with her kitty cat and Mickey stuffed animals without asking for the pacis! It was a miracle. I thought for sure we would lose weeks of sleep over the pacis but we didn't lose a minute. She is still a good sleeper, sleeps from 8 p.m. to 7-8 a.m. on the weekends. :)
She gives the best hugs and kisses on command and she always says I love you when anyone tells her I love you first. It's really adorable. She's told me a few times she loves me without me saying it first and I melt into mush. She loves to pat my belly and talk to the baby. She also thinks its hilarious if we bump bellies and I make little sound effects. Her little brother is already providing her with endless entertainment.
She is growing so fast and looking more and more kid like each day. It makes me sad and happy at the same time. I can't believe how fast my little baby has turned into a toddler. We love her more than words can express!

5 on Friday!

Happy Friday! Linking up with Christina at Carolina Charm for another 5 on Friday! :)
 photo db7528c5-a5c8-4eb0-9519-22997b018248_zps7d56832d.jpg
{ONE} The weather this week has been awesome... maxi skirts, short sleeves, and lots of outside time for us!
{TWO} Emerie has started to show interest in my headbands! I can't tell you how excited this makes me. After almost two years of having a baby who hates having anything on her head.... no cute hats, headbands, or clips.... she is finally tolerating my headbands! I think I will be shopping for hair accessories this weekend!

{THREE} I have been reading the book Restless by Jennie Allen (you can see the book trailer if you click on the link) and I have loved it. It's about how God weaves the various threads of our lives together to accomplish something amazing. The threads that you thought were random and not connected to one another, serve to prepare you for God's purpose for your life. It's a really easy read with lots of good quotes (some of which are from writers whom I love like Ann Voskamp, Brennan Manning, and Bob Goff). Go read it! :)

{FOUR} Warm weather + a dishwasher that stopped working = lots of dinners on the grill. We've been avoiding cooking because we don't want to be doing dishes for hours each night so last night we grilled hamburgers and had very few dirty dishes at the end. I can't wait to get a new dishwasher this weekend (even though I'd rather not spend the money since we are trying to move and may not live here much longer!).
{FIVE} We don't have any big plans for this weekend and I couldn't be happier! We have been so busy this week cleaning and showing our house and (hubs) finishing his grad school class that I am ready for a relaxing weekend at home!

Have a great one!

Life Lately

Whew. This has been a busy week around here! We've had two showings of our house this week, hubs had a grad school paper and class, and our dishwasher broke so I've been hand washing dishes for days. I can't tell you how much I hate washing dishes. A broken dishwasher. Such a first world problem. I keep reminding myself of that and how ridiculously lucky I am while I stand in front of that sink and my ankles begin to swell (thank you for that baby belly!). I was dreading yesterday afternoon because hubs has class on Wednesdays and the showing was right after work. So I was on my own to run home, straighten up some more, and get Emerie and two huge dogs into the car before the people showed up. I was a little nervous about how it would go. Em can be fussy some in the evenings when she gets tired and our chocolate lab is a stubborn free spirit who doesn't always listen when I ask him to do something. I had visions of Emerie melting down while the dog ran off down the road somewhere. Thankfully, neither of those things happened. All members of my family cooperated beautifully and I took us through the Chick-Fil-A drive through while our house was being shown. Dinner complete with no mess and very few dishes to wash! We played outside the rest of the afternoon... Emerie loves playing with balloons. :) We ended the evening with a milkshake (you can't go to Chick-Fil-A without getting one!). It was wonderful. :)
Thankfully things should be much calmer the rest of this week and hopefully I'll have a chance to write Emerie's 22 month update and my 27 week bumpdate. 27 weeks... one week left until I'm in the 3rd trimester and going to the midwives every two weeks to check on our sweet baby boy! I should probably buy him a few things soon.... like furniture for his room and some clothes so he doesn't have to wear Emerie's pink onesies!:) See ya tomorrow for 5 on Friday!
