{ONE} I have an appointment with one of the midwives this afternoon for my 18 week check-up. I still can't believe we're almost half way there! 2 more weeks until the anatomy ultrasound and I can't wait to find out if this sweet baby is a boy or a girl. I say boy but my hubs says girl. I have really no reason to say boy but I picked out a cute name and I just feel convinced it's going to be a boy. We also have a cute girl name picked out and we just want a healthy baby so I'll be over the moon happy either way. I'm blessed with 3 sisters so I would love for Emerie to be blessed with one too! For now she just loves her fur sister. :)
{TWO} It has been so cold here that I haven't had a chance to get outside (or had the desire to get outside) and walk or jog. It's supposed to warm up a tiny bit next week but it's also calling for rain, sleet, and snow so I doubt I'll get many workouts in next week! I've been looking for a few 5K's to do before baby love arrives and I think the first one will be a race called Run for Life at the end of March. It's sponsored by the University of Virginia's Zeta Tau Alpha sorority (my sorority from college, though I didn't go to U.Va.). I love U.Va.'s campus and I worked there for 2 years so I developed a love for the people there as well. :) I think it's the perfect way to stay active for a good cause (ZTA's philanthropy is breast cancer awareness and education). I'm talking my sister into running (slowly walking? haha at 25 weeks pregnant I don't know how fast I'll be moving!) with me.

{THREE} I'm looking for some new ideas for things that I can do with Emerie at home. Pinterest always has a ton of ideas but if you have any suggestions (for a toddler who doesn't like things on her hands) I'm all ears! We read constantly (she loves the library), build with blocks, play with her kitchen set, run around the house, etc. but I'm looking for something different to do.
(her hair isn't as red as it looks in this picture, the florescent lighting added to it!)
{FOUR} I am soooooo ready for spring, or better yet, summer. In a little more than 4 months I'll be home for the summer! Winter weather gets depressing... everything is grey and dead and cold. I'll be much happier when I can put on flip flops and head to the beach!
{FIVE} While I'm ready for summer I'm not sure where we will be by then... Whether it's our current home, relaxing by our pool or another home.... I don't know. My goal is to move by the end of the year. It would be easier to move before this baby is born but we can make due in our current house for 6 months or so after. We are going to look at house on Saturday. Let the process begin!

Thanks for stopping by!

18 Week Bumpdate!

How far along: 18 weeks!
Weight Gain: I'll find out on Friday at my check-up. Last time I went I hadn't gained any weight... only recently has the scale gone up about 2 pounds so we'll see what the midwife has to say.
Clothes: I'm still wearing mostly regular clothes. I have to use my belly bands with certain pants and jeans but I'm still wearing my regular shirts and can still get some of my pants buttoned.
Skin: My poor belly has been so dry and itchy due to the cold weather but I've been using belly butter and that's helped a lot.
Sleep:  I sleep okay, I wake up once or twice a night but I'm able to fall back to sleep. Some nights I can ignore my bladder and others I'm up at least once.
Gender: Unknown! We find out in 2 and a half weeks!! Yippeee!
Movement:  Lots of kicks and wiggles, very low. Hubs felt the baby kick last week which was a special moment!
Cravings: Chocolate. Fruit. Chips. I've eaten so many grapes over the past few weeks I think I'm done with that craving. I've also been craving green tea but I'm not sure if it's safe to drink during pregnancy? I've seen so many mixed reviews online! Thoughts?
Aversions: still not a fan of beef.
What I miss:  Regular coffee (and my desire to drink it) and deli meat. A huge sub would taste soooooo good.
Workouts: I've gone on a few quick walks but nothing to set the world on fire. It's been so cold, like freeze your face off when you step outside cold so I haven't done any running. I am hoping that it warms up over the next few weeks and I can get some slow jogs in.
Best moments and looking forward to: Hubs feeling the baby kick, Emerie asking to see the baby and kissing my belly (she also spends a lot of time pointing at my belly button so I'm not sure if she thinks that's the portal to the baby or what! But it's super adorable. And my belly button is out by the way. It didn't stand a chance of staying in after Emerie.)

Prayer for the baby: Heavenly Father, I pray that you will continue to protect and develop this sweet little baby. I pray that you will continue to strengthen those tiny muscles that are developing and I pray that all of the baby's organs are functioning in the unique way that you designed them to. We feel so blessed that you have trusted us with this little life and I thank you for the reassuring kicks and rolls that I feel each day. In Jesus' name, Amen.
"From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another." John 1:16

5 on Friday!

Happy Friday (aka my 4th day off from work due to snow and icy roads!). :) Linking up with Darci and friends for 5 on Friday.

{ONE} We are getting a little cabin fever from being at home for 4 days in a row so we are heading out today. It's been super cold (in the teens and low 20's for the past week) so Emerie hasn't gotten too much time out in the snow so we are taking her to the local library to play today. They have lots of toys for kids to play with and since hubs is off (his 4th day as well, even though he works in a different school district) he can play with her while I get some more books!
{TWO} Speaking of books... I've devoured 4 books over the past two weeks! They are mystery books and are part of the Rock Harbor Series by Collen Coble. They were so good... I read during naptime and pretty much from the time Emerie went to bed until I went to bed! Poor hubs hasn't gotten to talk to me much the past two weeks. :) I'm a total book nerd and not ashamed of it.

{THREE} I haven't done a great job of documenting this pregnancy... second pregnancies are different. When you have a toddler to chase around and care for you don't have as much time to focus on all the tiny details of pregnancy. I've been feeling great though... I feel healthy and happy and am still striving to take lots of walks and jogs (although with the subzero temps going on it's been difficult!). I'm determined to stay fit and active through this whole pregnancy.

{FOUR} An exciting milestone happened this week and deserves to be a number of it's own in this post... At 17 weeks exactly, Hubs felt the baby kick! I felt the kicks really early on... like by 11 or 12 weeks. The midwives said it's because this is my second pregnancy and I am so thin... either way, I'll take it! We were laying in bed and I could feel the baby kicking away so hubs put his hand on my belly and within a few seconds this babe gave him a swift kick! Loving it! :)
{FIVE}We haven't had any luck in the search for a new house... I'm hoping some new houses pop up on the market over the next couple of months!

Have a great weekend friends!

20 Months Old!

I can't believe my sweet little Emerie is 20 months old today! Only 4 short months and she will be 2 ---eek, hold me! She is such an amazing little person so I wanted to recap what she's been like over the past few months. She's growing so much so fast... at her 18 month wellness visit (completed at 19 months due to scheduling) she weighed 26 pounds. The doctor said that she's in the 80 something percentile for height and weight. He also asked if she knew 10 words (which is apparently the norm for 18 months?).... he was so surprised when we told him that she could count to twelve and is speaking in short sentences (sometimes) and phrases (the majority of the time). After talking with her a little bit he said that she has at least a 3 year old's vocabulary. Smarty pants!
We love talking to her and reading with her. When I just put her down for her nap she requested that I read "Barnyard Dance" and "Llama, Llama". We love hearing her say foot-a-ball and  rock-a-baby (when she wants me to rock her, I hope she never quits saying that). She always says "oh my goodness" when she is surprised by something and she says "be careful" and "woah baby doll" when she falls down. It's seriously the most adorable thing.
She eats pretty well, still doesn't like eating a lot of fruits and veggies. She will eat avocado, bananas, and apples. She isn't a fan with anything that has skin or strange textures (like grapes and strawberries). She loves the Gerber Graduate pouches though so we get other fruits and veggies in that way. She also loves when I make smoothies so she gets some fruit that way as well. She enjoys pasta, meats, and cheese.
She's been getting her molars in and man did they cause her a lot of pain! Thankfully she's feeling much better now. She still sleeps through the night and goes to bed around 7:30. She slept in until 9 this morning! She hates having anything on her hands so finger painting would never go over well! She loves to run inside and outside. She sits and lays on the dogs all the time. They are her best friends. Well, the dogs and her Papa. She loves him so much.
(this was a rare moment last weekend when she actually took a nap on me, and I soaked up every single moment of it!)
She hasn't quite grasped the concept of sharing yet and she has quite a temper. She doesn't know how to handle her anger yet so she throws things and kicks. We are working on that though... we have a time out spot that we just started using. She gives kisses freely now and we basically ask her all day long to give us kisses. Still such a sweetie regardless of the tantrums.
She's obsessed with Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. She knows all the characters names (including the minor characters!). She got lots of Mickey stuff for Christmas and loved it all!
She loves bath time and splashes water everywhere. We love seeing her experience and enjoy life. I can't believe my little baby is going to be 2 this year and she's going to become a big sister! She will be the best big sister. We love you so much sweet girl!!

Snow Day!

It's been snowing almost all day so we didn't have school today and we are off again tomorrow. Yay! I love being home with Emerie... She's had a rough couple of days, her molars are coming in and she's been in so much pain. We even took her to the doctor because we were worried it was her ears. Thankfully it wasn't and a little Advil goes a long way in helping her sleep. Since she isn't sick, we took her out to play in the snow today. She loved it! Hubs kept making snowballs and threw them in the air for our lab and golden to catch in their mouths so she tried to do it too. So cute.
(finally wearing her new snow bibs that she got for Christmas)
Have a great day! :)

5 on Friday!

The week has gotten away from me and I haven't blogged since last Friday! Sorry about that! I'll try to do better next week. :)
Linking up with Darci and friends for 5 on Friday!

{ONE} Our house is officially on the market. We are hopefully that it sells before baby love #2 makes his/her grand entrance this summer. We are also hopeful that we can find the right house for our family! My main worry is how we will keep our current house clean for showings with a toddler who has a zillion toys!
{TWO} This was a rough week for me... I've teared up multiple times (I blame pregnancy hormones) and I am so glad it's come to an end. Looking forward to spending the weekend with my sweet little family.
{THREE} Poor Emerie has two molars coming in and is gnawing on everything! We were considering taking her pacifiers away this weekend but given her teething situation I'm not sure if we should. That and we are totally dreading it because they've become like her security blanket. She holds them a lot and sleeps with them. Taking them away would mean no sleep for us and I'm not sure I'm ready for that! I plan to do her 20 month update next week... I have so many things to share about this sweet girl!
(She loves her Papa, my dad)
{FOUR} Hubs started grad school this week and we are excited for the things to come. He only has class once a week right now which is nice... He's getting his degree in Educational Leadership/Administration. I love my summers off too much to work as a principal... speaking of summer.... we are officially half way through the school year (as of yesterday).... Let the countdown begin! :)
{FIVE}Little love bug #2 (I hate referring to the baby as number 2 but until we know the sex I'm not sure what else to call them) has started wiggling a lot and I'm loving it. Hubs hasn't felt the kicks yet but I'm hopeful that he will in the next few weeks. :)

Have a wonderful weekend friends!

5 on Friday!

Happy Friday friends! Linking up with Darci again for 5 on Friday!

I'm not very good at making and keeping resolutions but I decided to write down some things that I hope or want to do every day.
{ONE} Word in.
I want to read the Bible and spend time with God every single day. That is my main goal. I am doing this great Scripture memorization project that Ann Voskamp came up with. It's called The Jesus Project and it's gives you all of the scriptures to memorize in gorgeous fonts for you to print and frame or hang around your house. I'm really excited about this... one of my favorite quotes from Ann's blog is this: "All the heart really knows- is what it knows by heart." I want to really know Him. Join us?

{TWO} Work out.
I think most people include this in their goals for a new year. I just want to stay healthy and in shape and deliver a healthy baby this summer!
{THREE} Unplug.
I am on my iPhone way too much. Too much Facebook, Instagram, Bloglovin', Pinterest. So from the hours of 5-7:30 (basically most of the evening while Emerie is still awake) I am trying to stay off of my phone and focus on her. She's growing up too fast.
{FOUR} Pray more.
This goes along with number one but I wrote it down separately. I am reading a book called A Praying Life by Paul Miller. It's about deepening your relationship with God through prayer and staying connected to God in a distracting world and that's my goal.
{FIVE} Read.
I am already on a roll with this one! I've read three books for fun since Christmas and I'm reading two more at the moment. During Christmas break, as soon as I got Emerie to bed I basically curled up on the couch and read until I was sleepy. It was wonderful. Any recommendations? Someone else I know loves books as much as her momma. :)
Have a blessed weekend!

Holiday Recap :)

We had a wonderful holiday break and are now back into the swing of things. We went back to work on Thursday and we've had several school delays due to sub zero temps and freezing rain. It's been nice having delays, we enjoy the extra sleep and taking the mornings a little slower! I won't go into all of the details of Christmas but I'll leave you with several pictures so you can see how much fun our little Emerie had. She loved opening presents, playing with the paper and boxes, and being a little social butterfly. She's such a sweet little girl. I can't believe how big she is getting!
Whew. What a wonderful Christmas. We are so blessed!
