One Month Old -June 23

Dear Emerie,
I can't believe how much time has flown by. I am a little late on this post, you will be six weeks old tomorrow! You are growing so fast and I want time to slow down! The past month and a half with you has been amazing! I have loved every single second of my time spent with you (even the moments where you were screaming your pretty little head off!). You have gone from a tiny cuddly little newborn who slept all day to a happy, active and alert little baby. The first two weeks of your life you slept a lot and we spent lots of time cuddling with you. As a breastfed baby you eat like a champ. You have had no trouble breastfeeding and I am so thankful for that. You gained two pounds in one month. At our last doctor's appointment you weighed 9 pounds and 13 ounces. The doctor was so proud of your growth. She even told me I no longer need to wake you up every three or four hours to feed you. So I have been letting you sleep longer at night and feeding you on your schedule! You still eat every three hours or so during the day and when we first put you to bed at night you sleep for about 6 hours before waking up to eat. When you finish eating (usually at 3:30 a.m.) you wake up every three hours after that. We get one long stretch at night which is nice.

At the hospital
At home (you were definitely worth the wait!!)
You have been such a good baby. You love to play on your playmat. You kick your feet and wave your arms and legs like crazy! You also tolerate tummy time pretty well and you are getting so strong! You lift your head and neck already!
You didn't like your bath at home at first (especially when you still had your umbilical cord stump) but now you love them!!
Your first smiles were when you were drifting off in that crazy REM sleep but now you are smiling on purpose and I love it! My favorite part of the day is in the morning after you have your breakfast I take your sleeper off of you and prop you up on my legs and you kick and smile and coo at me. It's so much fun to watch you. You love being naked!
You enjoy being outside and I can't wait until you get a little bigger and we can put you in the pool!
Daddy had his first Father's Day this month and insisted on holding you while he opened his presents from you. We bought him AE shorts and shoes that he's been wanting.
We have loved every single second with you and can't wait to watch you grow and change (just not too fast okay?!). You are the best thing that has ever happened to either of us and every day I feel like my heart will burst because of all of the love that I have for you. You are such a blessing to us.

I love you so much pretty girl!
Love always,
Mommy
