Me, You, and a Canoe

Those of you that know me or read my blog know that I love being on the water. I love seeing boats, learning the history of ships, and I love to be on the water myself whether it be in a canoe, a speedboat, or even a paddle boat. Needless to say, I am so ready for this weekend! We are heading to the lake for our annual camping trip. I can't wait to get in the canoe and float off with a good book!
The setting of our weekend:
We do a little of this on the lake at night....
And a little of this during the day (this is the river that runs near the lake)...
We tried to see if this pretty girl would like swimming...
And discovered that she's happiest on dry land!
What are you up to this week/weekend?

Weekend Away

This past weekend hubs and I took a little mini vacation. We decided to go to Baltimore, Maryland. We had a fabulous time!

We went to an Orioles game (it was 104 degrees at the start of the game!)

We toured two ships, one from the Civil War (USS Constellation) and one from that was active during Pearl Harbor and on into the 1990's (US Coast Guard Taney).

We also tourned a lighthouse (Seven Foot Knoll).
We went to the National Aquarium where we played peek-a-boo with this handsome creature...
And we had dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe!
It was a wonderful weekend away (even though it was hotter than blue blazes and I spent the entire weekend sweating!).

Thursday Thoughts

---I have worked in my classroom a lot this week... things are looking better but not great (yet!). I'm in a new room this year and a new grade level and the person who was there before me left so I have a lot of stuff to sort through. Thankfully a retired Kindergarten teacher (who was an AMAZING teacher) called me and offered to help me get things put back together. So sweet. I would still be sitting and staring at all the boxes if it wasn't for her!
---Hubs and I decided to go to the Inner Harbor in Baltimore! We booked our hotel and are really excited to get away for a few days. We are hoping to catch an Orioles game, tour 4 ships and a lighthouse, and possibly go to the aquarium. This is a much needed mini vaca and I can't wait!
---I'm getting my hair cut today... I'm thinking about getting some bangs (not all the way across but some that sweep to the side). I'm a little nervous though because I'm afraid they will get on my nerves! =) I'll post pictures when I get a chance!
---I've recently started reading The Power of a Praying Wife and I'm enjoying praying for my husband. I've had the book awhile and started it a long time ago but never made it through. This time I hope to stick with it.

Okay I think that's all the random updates I have for now! Happy Thursday friends!

Saturday Morning Scene

Saturday Morning Scene

Visit Loves of Life if you want to link up!
My camera battery died so I can't take a picture of what my Saturday morning looks like... So I'll just tell you. =) I am currently enjoying my second cup of coffee and catching up on all of your wonderful blogs. Later I will be heading to my new classroom to start unpacking everything! I have taught 2nd grade for the past two years and this year I get to teach Kindergarten! I am soooo excited! I know a lot of people think I'm crazy but I love the little ones. They make so much progress their first year of school and I can't wait to be their first teacher (well, some of them, some will have went to PreK)! As I sit here on this lovely Saturday morning I am also daydreaming about the lake where hubs proposed. We have a lot of memories at that lake and we took a quick fishing trip there this past week. It was the most beautiful afternoon! The air was cool with zero humidity, and the sun was bright in a clear blue sky... we watched it set behind the mountains... ahhhh. I can never get enough of that place. So I leave you with these pictures:

Even Mason enjoys the lake as much as we do! =) Have a great weekend friends!

Random Update

-So I had a dream about  my classroom last night and I woke up a little panicked... I'm teaching Kindergarten next year you guys! I'm a little nervous! I've taught second grade for 2 years now and I requested to move down to K or 1. I was thrilled when I learned that I'd be in K but I'm still nervous. It's a lot like being a new teacher all over again. Thankfully I have a seasoned team to help me out.... We have a team meeting with our principals on Thursday morning. After that I'll probably start visiting my classroom once a week and begin the long process of unpacking. There is a ton of stuff in my new room because the teachers before me retired/moved and left everything! You know how I can't stand clutter. Lots of cleaning and tossing on my agenda before school starts.
-Hubs and I have decided to take a mini vaca in the near future. We just want a nice little weekend away together.... nothing fancy, doesn't have to be beach oriented. In fact we are thinking about going back down to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge for a long week. It's such a cute area with tons of stuff to do. Other options include Charleston, SC, Washington D.C., Baltimore, or OBX. Any thoughts? We are wanting to stay on the east coast... driving distance (we live in VA).
-We are going to spend a weekend at the lake before summer is over... most likely in August. I love our yearly camping trip.... fishing/boating at the lake, swimming in the river, hanging by the campfire, riding bikes, and laying in the sun... bliss.
Have a great day friends!

Friday Fragments

I know it's summer and I am off and should be posting more regularly! I have been keeping myself busy around the house. I've cleaned out three closets and consolidated two closets worth of stuff into one. My mom and I had a joint yard sale at my house last Saturday and I took everything that was left over to the Good Will. It was so nice to get rid of the clutter!! Hubs and I went hiking last week in the Shenandoah National Park. It was a really nice hike that ended with a beautiful waterfall.
This week we've been doing stuff around the house. We bought a really nice canopy for the deck and some outdoor furniture to go under it. We've been needing it because we didn't have anything to go by the pool. I've been getting up and praying/journaling/reading The Bible before I allow myself to get on the computer every morning. It has really been helping my faith and my state of mind. I am really learning that you have to believe and have faith when you pray. That you need to believe that God will answer your prayers when you pray because He won't if you don't have faith.
"But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does." James 1:6-8
"If you believe you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer." Matt. 21:22 (italics mine)
Have a blessed day friends!
