Catching Up

- We just returned from a weekend at the beach. Sun, sand, and waves... what could be better?
- Summer is going to fly by so I am trying to make the most of my time off. I have lots of things on my to do list and next on the list is a yard sale. I've been wanting to clean out my closets and get rid of the stuff that we don't use. I definitely want to make the house less cluttered so my rule has been that if I haven't used it or worn it in the past year it's going in the yard sale. Saturday will be here before I know it!
- I went to Zumba at the gym with a friend last Tuesday and am planning on going again tomorrow. I went today and did an arm workout and tomorrow I will go and do a leg workout.
- I hate to grocery shop but I did that today as well... we fixed corn on the cob on the grill this afternoon (slather it in butter and salt and wrap it in foil and throw it on the grill). Yum!
- I'm going to try and be more active this summer... hiking, fishing, biking, going to the gym, taking the boat out on the lake, swimming in our pool and of course in the river... etc.
- I'm back to looking for a new church. It's so hard to find a church that has everything I am looking for. Interesting preacher, good praise and worship music, and an active congregation that reaches out. Our church has a lot of what we are looking for but it's really hard to get involved because it's so big. It's hard to meet people and sometimes I feel like the congregation doesn't mesh well... if that makes sense? Maybe it's just me but I'm having a hard time finding my "place."
- I've been a bit of a control freak lately and God  has been teaching me some tough lessons. There was a church across the road from our hotel at the beach and the sign in front of it said "God's time is time enough." It was like a slap in the face. God was totally speaking to me. I took a picture of it and it's now the background on my phone. I need the constant reminder that God's plan for me is bigger and better than any plan I could come up with on my own.
- My summer reading has started.... the first book I read was called Angry Conversations with God: A Snarky But Authentic Spiritual Memoir by Susan Isaacs. It was laugh out loud funny and a very easy read. I've also started reading the Sue Grafton mystery novels, A is for Alibi, B is for Burglar, and C is for Corpse. I enjoy murder mysteries and these have been okay so far. I've only read the first one. Last summer I pretty much read all of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum novels.
-Ok, enough randomness for now. Have a fabulous week ladies! I'm off to watch The Bachelorette! Don't judge! =)

Sweet Summer!

I wrapped up the school year on Thursday and since then I've been enjoying my summer break. So far we've opened our pool, been cat fishing at the lake, grilled out, and made two very expensive trips to the vet! We are heading to the beach in the near future and I can't wait to get my toes in the sand. There is something so therapeutic about the beach. I love walking on the beach... I could walk for miles and miles and not get tired. I'm not one to lay out and sweat for hours and hours though.
On a completely separate note.... I've gained weight ya'll. After I had my wisdom teeth out at the end of December, I lost six pounds. Then once I recovered I gained all six of those back, but I didn't stop at my normal weight, I gained 5 more! Ugh. I know I am not heavy by any stretch of the matter... I've always had an awesome metabolism. I could eat what I wanted and never gain weight (insert eye rolls here). Well..... those days are over! I know there are a lot of people who have very serious weight struggles and my weight issue doesn't even compare to others, but it's still an issue for me. I've totally neglected the gym membership that I have (but hubs still goes on a regular basis). I can't find any motivation to go to the gym. It's boring. The classes would be fun but they are really for people who are already in good shape. Every time I go to a class I feel like I've pulled every muscle in my body the next day. I want to get those pesky five pounds off but I don't know where to start. I guess eating healthy and exercising would be the place to begin. I should be hiking, walking, and swimming. I'm in a lazy funk! I need to snap out of it! Okay... enough of my grumbling over 5 pounds. I'm sure you are all thoroughly disgusted with me now.
Happy Monday!

Only one and a half days left with my kids at school! I am so ready for summer break but still have a lot to get done before I can relax by our pool for the next two months.... That leads me to my exciting news: I get to teach Kindergarten next year!! While I have enjoyed teaching second grade, I have been hoping to move down to Kindergarten or 1st grade for awhile. The opportunity finally presented itself and my principals honored my request to move down! So the next four days will be filled with saying goodbye to my almost third graders, packing up my entire classroom, and moving all of my things into my new room to be stored over the summer. I've been praying about this for awhile and God has answered my prayers! I know it will be totally exhausting because I will be going full throttle all day long with a class of 20 five year olds but I am excited (and maybe crazy according to most teachers in 2nd-5th grades!). I promise I'll post more later... and I still need to post before and after kitchen pictures... I'll have more time after Thursday because I'll officially be off for the summer!! =)
