So hubs and I have decided to start planning our summer trip. I know, its only November but if we start planning, researching, etc now, we will be ready to go the week after school lets out in June. Have I mentioned that I love being a teacher and having the freedom to travel during the summer and still get paid!?? Lucky for us we are both teachers and have the summers off together! Hubs and I haven't went on a decent trip together since we've been married. Sure we've been here and there for a couple of nights but we haven't gotten to take a long (week or more) vacation together due to our hectic schedules, bills, etc. We still have bills (what newly married couple doesn't?) but we are coming to a point in our lives where we can accomplish some of our goals. The first goal, buying our house! We (hopefully, if all goes as planned, say a few prayers!) will be buying our house before April (hopefully around Christmas or a little after, wow!), which means we will get the first time home buyers tax credit and a decent tax return! This will not make us rich in any way but it will help us afford a decent vacation! So where to, where to? We are thinking NYC!!!! I would love to see Times Square, Central Park, Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center, Macy's, Broadway, and of course have frozen hot chocolate at Serendipity!!! So we have been looking into hotels and deals for NYC. One of our other goals has always been to go somewhere out west like Colorado or Montana. I would love to go to Yellowstone or Glacier National Park. If you've never heard of Glacier National Park go here and see the beautiful pictures!! Amazing. Growing up in Virginia, I've always been under the impression that most of the beauty lies in other countries. You know... Greece, Ireland, Africa..... and I'm sure there are amazing things in those countries, but there are amazing things in America too.... so many that I haven't seen! So I will definitely keep you all up to date on the trip planning and our final decisions! I'm excited and I hope the rest of the school year flies by!
Things I'm Thankful For:
1. Hubs <3
2. My parents
3. Amazing church services
4. Short work week! 2 days! Yay!
5. A clean house =)
Ok. I probably shouldn't post this. After all, I don't usually haven't ever, stuck to a workout routine. I love to be active. I love to hike, give me a mountain or a hiking trail and I'll climb to the top of it. Here's proof.
But that isn't something I do daily, or even weekly. I absolutely love it. I love taking my retrievers (both chocolate and golden) and hubs along. It's fun. The rush that you get at the top of the mountain or the end of a hiking trail. The views and the sense of satisfaction. Working out doesn't usually produce those same feelings for me. Running definitely doesn't give me any sense of satisfaction. It does however, leave me with a sense of pain, failure, and misery. Ahhhh. Now there's three wonderful reasons to work out. Where am I going with this? Enter Couch to 5K. The first run I've ever had that I came back feeling proud of myself for. The first run where I came into the house with a sense of accomplishment and the words "that wasn't so bad" rolled off of my tongue. Yes, clearly hubs was surprised. Granted I've only done W1D1 of this plan but I do plan to continue with W1D2 tomorrow. Will I stick to it? Yes. No. Maybe. I dunno. I am hoping that I do because I have always wanted to be that girl. You know who I'm talking about. The girl who runs her stress out instead of eating a full bag of potato chips. The girl that can sign up for a 5K like it's nothing. The girl that can run more than one minute without.gasping.for.breath. You know, that girl. So honestly I don't know if I can ever be that girl, and even hubs has his doubts about me sticking to this plan because in his words "you have started a lot of plans that don't make it beyond Day 1". Thanks hubs. Really. Thanks a lot. So I'm on a mission to prove him and myself (because I don't completely believe that I can stick to it), wrong. Running advice from any of those girls? Encouragement welcome!
7 more days of teaching and I get a 5 day weekend! Yippee! I love my job but I am ready for a break. This weekend has been fun so far. Yesterday mom and I went to a dinner that dad was supposed to go to (but he got called into work). We weren't really expecting to have fun but we actually really enjoyed ourselves. We saw lots of old friends and met a few new people. Hubs and I went over to a friends house after I got back from the dinner. Two more of our friends were there with their beautiful 9 week old little girl. Needless to say, cooing over the baby for the rest of the night was fun! Hubs and I alternated holding the baby while he tried to convince me that it's time for us to have one. =) I can't wait to have a baby but it's not quite time yet. I'm still in my first year teaching and want to wait a little bit longer. When we got back home we started to watch The Proposal (which I hear is hysterical) but we were so tired that we decided we'd have to finish it sometime today! On the downside of the weekend, Mason, our chocolate lab, has been acting really weird. He acts like his hip is hurting him and has been pacing a lot. Hopefully it's just a pulled muscle from running after tennis balls yesterday.
The weather today was beautiful! A little warm for November but still beautiful none the less! I had a busy day, I was out on Friday (stupid sinus infection) and came back to lots of papers to check and things to catch up on. It almost doesn't pay to be out! I definitely needed the time of rest, not for my body but for my voice!! My throat was sore every afternoon last week from talking to the kids all day. Friday gave me a chance to rest and to go to the doctor to get some antibiotics. I'm feeling much better. =)
No big plans for this week. Just getting all of my grading and stuff done and trying to prepare for report cards again. I am sooooooooo looking forward to Thanksgiving break! I love my job but I can't wait to spend some time with hubs and our families. Time for a quick list.
Things I'm looking forward to:
1. I know I've said it once but I'll say it again: Thanksgiving break! =)
2. Going fishing with hubs this weekend and having dinner with him and my family!
3. My Starbucks run in the morning. I get a FREE beverage, nothing beats that!
4. Putting up Christmas decorations and going around to see everyone else's. I know it's early but I'm excited!
I have not been very good at blogging lately but this time of year is really busy! I'm so excited that Halloween is over (I'm not a huge fan, gasp, I know many of you can't believe that someone doesn't like Halloween!). The end of Halloween officially marks the holiday season! The time where Christmas music is playing in every store, the scarves, peacoats, boots, the cool air, the SNOW (I hope!), the time of reflection and love! I love Thanksgiving and Christmas! I have so much to be thankful for! Here are a few of them...
1. God's wonderful, unfailing love!
2. My husband and my family.
3. My health (I have a horrible, annoying sinus infection that kept me home from work on Friday and landed me in the doctor's office. I am feeling much better! Thank goodness for antibiotics!)
4. The thought of peppermint mocha's from Starbucks (even better than Pumpkin Spice Lattes!)
Hope everyone is doing well! I'll try to blog more often! =)
(Please excuse my over use of ! marks.)
