Hello Friends!

It has come to my attention that I have not been the world's greatest friend lately. Between the chaos of student teaching and finishing up grad school, being a newlywed, and job hunting for the fall, I have been completely unavailable. So in efforts to revive my beautiful friendships and catch up with my loved ones, I will be posting a new blog about my fantastic friends and give you all some of the details of our catching up/reunions. The first friends that I will be blogging about are none other than Amanda and Ryan Upton!

Amanda and Ryan have been good friends of mine and Phil's for a long time now. We survived college together, had tons of fun at ODU basketball games, were in each other's weddings, and have kept in touch through them moving across the country to LA for awhile. Ryan and Amanda have been married since August '06 and just recently (Nov '08) had a beautiful baby! We had the opportunity to have breakfast with them Sunday and meet their bundle of joy, Charlotte. She is absolutely beautiful. She is the spitting image of Ryan! She has his eyes and dimples. She let Phil and I both hold her with NO fussing whatsoever. She smiled and laughed. She's perfect. I'm so happy for them and their new little family. They are adjusting well to life in Arlington and both hope to go back to school and get their MBA's in the near future. I can't wait to go visit them!

More friend updates to come.... stay tuned!

Top 5 this week

Another list of things that I am addicted to lately...

1. Stash Chai Tea. Yum. It has the best cinnamon aroma and it's really soothing.

2. The original Oreo. Vanilla. Much better than the chocolate Oreo.

3. Suave Advanced Therapy Lotion. I wash my hands about 10 times a day and factor in the many rounds of GermX after my 1st graders sneeze/cough around me, and the the cold weather... my hands are very dry. One round of this lotion helped A LOT! It's cheap too!

4. Fruit. Spring brings fresh fruit. This week I've had oranges, strawberries, bananas, and grapes. They were all delicious.

5. Flowers. I've started to enjoy working in my flower garden and visiting garden shops. I can't wait until my butterfly bush blooms!

Romans 12:12

I know that it's been awhile since my last post. I will try to update this more often. I've been avoiding blogging because I've been slightly discouraged lately. I'll explain why... Student teaching has been an amazing experience. I have a great group of 1st graders, a fabulous cooperating teacher, and great administration. I've had wonderful experiences. Excellent observation and meeting with the principal, great observations from my advisor and cooperating teacher. Tons of compliments... but.... no job offer. That's why I've been a little stressed lately. I hear the words: economy, budget, and transfers and cringe. It's hard to love to do something so much and work really hard because you want to spend the rest of you life doing it, and not be able to find a job in it right away. I know it's only March and I need to have patience because people are still transferring (ugh there's that word again) and the budget (grrr) hasn't been ironed out, but I cannot stay patient and wait. I am trying to though... I know that God wouldn't bring me this far and leave me hanging. So I am going to constantly be reciting this verse in my head: "Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer." Romans 12:12. I am going to try to change my grouchy spirit into a spirit filled with joyful hope, I will be patient in waiting for a job, and faithfully praying for one.

So other than my grouchy spirit lately... life has been pretty good. The rain has stopped, we needed it but it doesn't help my mood. Haha. I loved Wednesday's weather. Sunny and 70 degrees. Beautiful. Piper is doing well... She's growing. She's a really sweet laid back puppy! Thank goodness! :) Phillip's softball season has started... he has a tournament on Saturday in Charlottesville. I may drive over to watch a few games. March Madness has begun... Of course the hubby and I have filled out our brackets and made silly bets with each other. March also brings out the beautiful flowers. I am trying to learn how to garden. I have lots of beautiful flowers planted around my house and in the yard and I'm trying to plant more and learn how to keep them looking nice.

Tomorrow is my last day teaching and next week I will observe in all of the grade levels. And Friday is my official last day of student teaching. I can't believe it's almost over! I've had such an amazing time!!
