Well it's been awhile since my last update. Piper is doing really well now. We had a major disaster a week ago that resulted in her having to go to the vet and also resulted in 2 hours of bleaching the laundry room and garage... but she is happy and healthy now! She also got to experience her first snow a few weeks ago and it's too cute not to share with everyone! The hubs and I had a nice Valentine's Day. We went hiking at Humpback Rocks. It was a nice day and we had a lot of fun. I also want to officially announce the engagement of Austin and Kristen! Yay! Austin proposed to Kristen on Valentine's Day and they are planning a late summer/early fall wedding for next year! She also asked me to be one of the bridesmaids (of course I said yes!) :) I can't wait!

Student teaching is still going well. Only 5 weeks left! Woo hoo! I have also been unofficially offered a long term sub position in 5th grade in Rockingham! We are definitely praising God for that! My birthday is one week from today... I hope the hubby has something special planned! :)

My favorite place to be... Tennessee

So hubs and I are thinking about going back to Tennessee for our one year wedding anniversary! We are probably going to go a little before our anniversary (around April 9th) because Phil will have a week off from work then and I will be finished student teaching. Unfortunately we won't be staying in the same wonderful luxury cabin that we stayed in last time. :( Here are some pictures from our honeymoon.

We will probably stay in a condo this time or a B&B. I'll post details once we settle on something. It will be so nice to get away for awhile. In less than 3 months we will be eating delicious year old wedding cake! :)

Valentines Day 2003

Valentines Day holds a special place in my heart because it was mine and Phil's first date. So pardon me while I take a walk down memory lane.....

I was upstairs getting ready for my first date with Phillip. We had been close friends for a long time so I wasn't too nervous. I heard the doorbell ring and Holly mumbled that I would be down in a second (he actually thought she was me at first because we look so much alike). I am finally ready and we head out. I get in his truck and he is playing weird music (it's Grateful Dead). We go to Applebees but see that it is way to0 crowded and we would miss our movie so we headed to Fishersville to go to Mossy Creek. One of my best friends, Alexis, is working. We sit down and take a look at the menu. I don't want to order anything too pricey so I settle on a salad. Please make note of this.... THAT WAS THE LAST TIME I EVER ORDERED A SALAD ON A DATE WITH PHILLIP. I have a big appetite and eat real food. Salad comes on the side from our 2nd date on. :) Anyways, Phil orders a steak, baked potato, and side salad. After we eat and Alexis embarrasses me (do you remember that??) we head to Staunton to go to the movies. In the truck on the way there, my future husband sang Grateful Dead in a loud, slightly off key voice but it made me laugh (which is why I love him). We get to the theater and settle in for How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days. During the movie Phil reaches over and grabs my hand (aw first date moves). Meanwhile I have a mixture of emotion and excitement going through me and was pretty smitten with the way things were going. After the movie Phil takes me back to my house and kisses me goodnight. I think I smiled in my sleep that night. He asked me to go out with him again the next time he was home from college and I accepted. So after spending hours on end on the phone with him for the next two weeks, we finally go on our second date (my birthday). Phil sent me flowers before our date and after our date he asked me to be his girlfriend (or in his words, take our friendship to the next level, cheeseball). Needless to say, I accepted. So here we are (exactly 6 years later on Valentines Day) looking back on our first date... still in love and still crazy about each other. :)

25 Random Things That You May/May Not Know About Me!

1. I married the love of my life on April 26, 2008.
2. I love the beach and the mountains equally. They each bring different things to my life. The mountains make me feel alive. I feel energized when I'm hiking or fishing in the mountains. The beach makes me feel at peace. The lull of the ocean soothes and relaxes me. I love to feel the sand between my toes.
3. We just got a new puppy... golden retriever. Her name is Piper and Mason (our chocolate lab) is sooooo good with her!
4. I'm two classes away from finishing my Masters degree! Woot woot.
5. I love garlic. Weird, I know. But I could eat anything that calls for garlic in the recipe. Phil's grandma actually gave me garlic for Christmas one year (don't ask. There isn't enough space for that story).
6. I think the perfect ending to a long stressful day is a hot bubble bath with a good book/magazine, candles, and music.
7. I love coffee and have to have at least one cup everyday.
8. Lindz just cut my hair off. I love it. She's so talented. :)
9. I've been blessed with a wonderful family and a wonderful family-in-law. :)
10. I miss my sorority sisters and my friends from CNU.
11. I am student teaching in a first grade classroom that has 13 boys and only 4 girls. I love it.
12. I'm constantly trying to better myself because I don't want to become too complacent in life.
13. I wish I were good at running. I would love to run in a marathon or at least a 5K. :)
14. I prefer hanging out at someone's house with a few friends over going out to a loud bar.
15. I would move away if our families could go with us.
16. I would love to own a bookstore or coffee shop.
17. I am a little OCD when it comes to making sure the stove/coffee pot/etc. are turned off before I leave the house. I don't want to burn the house down with my cat and two dogs still inside!
18. Friends is my absolute favorite tv series. It's not sleazy like shows are now. I own all 10 seasons and could watch them over and over again. They are funny and it's a good way for me to relax/unwind. Plus Phil likes them too... (I've caught him watching them when I am not even in the room!).
19. I love taking pictures and don't do it often enough.
20. I am a major procrastinator. I always do everything at the last minute.
21. I love to hike and trout fish. Phil and I have always shared a love for fishing and hiking. It's one of our "things" that makes us feel closer.
22. I love mexican food. I could eat chips and salsa, rice and chicken enchiladas everyday. Yum.
23. I can't sing (at all, really I'm awful) but I love to turn the radio up and belt out songs that fit my mood.
24. I love exploring new places and hope that Phil and I can travel during our summers off (Yay for being teachers!).
25. ABOVE ALL ELSE: I love Christ and am so thankful that He gave his life for me. God is my saving grace and I couldn't survive this life without Him. :)
