I love snow days

I feel like a kid all over again. Glued to the tv as the closings and delays flash across the screen.... filled with joy as I see "Augusta County Schools, closed" YES! Haha. Teachers love snow days too. I've been using these two days off to get myself organized. I'm working on my portfolio for the job fair next month and doing some lesson planning. I'm also spending quality time with my hubby who has been off the past two days as well! It's been pretty blissful.

Piper is doing well. She's very sweet... I've nicknamed her mellow yellow. She's a very chill puppy. She gets a little rambunctous when she plays with Mason but other than that I can't complain too much.

This year is going to be busy. I hope to know within the next few months where I will be working this fall (God willing!). Then Phil and I plan to start looking at houses to buy... possibly in Rockingham County... if that's where I end up teaching. I'm looking forward to seeing what this year has in store for us! I can't believe we've been married for 9 months already! We will be eating year old wedding cake before you know it! A lot of people say that your first year of marriage is the hardest. I am happy to say that it hasn't been that difficult for us (praise God). We've had a lot of fun and have really been enjoying our new married status! :)

Introducing... Piper!

Now for the exciting news I mentioned in the previous post.... Piper! We now have a golden retriever puppy... almost 8 weeks old. She's precious and fluffy! Haha. Mason has been so great with her. Fitch... well he doesn't like dogs in general. Maybe he'll warm up to Piper. Anyways... here she is:

She looks different in the second picture because she was still wet from her first bath! :)

Other news.... Student teaching is going really, really well. I have a really great cooperating teacher and all of the other 1st grade teachers are really sweet and have helped me a lot. I'm really enjoying myself! :)

I tried a zumba dance class for the first time on Monday night. I'm not gonna lie. I loved it. It was such a fun workout. The most enjoyable that I've ever had. Who knew dancing to salsa, hip hop, and several other genres could be so fun? And burn SO many calories. Christy (the instructor) said that it can burn 900 calories in one hour? Wow. Yep. That's right. I'm becoming a registered member of the Valley Dance Theatre and will be taking zumba classes twice a week! :)

I think that's all for now!

New Beginnings

Well I have deleted all 46 of my previous blog posts. I've kept them for myself but I've decided to start over with this blog and try to keep it updated on a regular basis.

January has brought about many changes. I've completed two weeks of student teaching and it has been a lot of fun! I'm really enjoying being in the classroom and working with my 17 first graders. With 13 boys in the class I'm pretty exhausted in the evenings but it's worth it. I've taken over math and this week I'll be teaching math, reading, science and social studies! Busy week for me. I also have my first formal observation on Monday so wish me luck!

I've gotten several interviews lined up next month for summer school and the next school year. I'm pretty excited. Even with budget cuts I am confident that I will get a great job because I'm following God's will for my life. I will keep trusting Him and praying about it!

Phil is enjoying his job and is having fun coaching TA's boys JV basketball team. I'm going to watch their game tonight.

I may have some more exciting news to share within the next day or two so keep reading!
